Saturday, October 26, 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
As part of the closing weekend of Edgar Calel’s exhibition Ru Raxal Qa Rayb’äl, join us on Saturday, October 26 for a series of public programs.
At 3 p.m., we invite you to a talk by renowned Maya Quiché anthropologist Maria Jacinta Xon about the political resistance of peoples through cooking. The event will address cooking as a process that begins with ancestral agriculture, the science of cooking, and cooking as a space of oppression and resistance for Indigenous women. The conversation will also consider contemporary food as a neoliberal invasion that harms the earth, bodies, and the future.
The event will be followed at 5:00 p.m. by a concert by Tzutu Kan feat. DJ Waqi Sakbey.
All events are open and do not require a reservation.
