  • CYCLICAL UNIVERSES: GUATEMALA THROUGH THE EYES OF JAPAN

    5 JUL - 5 JUL, 2025

    Opening: Saturday, July 5, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Remarks and Tour at 5 p.m.

You’re invited to the opening of Cyclical Universes: Guatemala Through the Eyes of Japan at La Nueva Fábrica. This exhibition brings together the work of Kohei Yasu and Masahiro Umoto, two Japanese photographers who captured Guatemala’s landscapes, architecture, and cultural life across different eras. The opening will take place in the presence of artist Masahiro Umoto, offering a unique opportunity to engage with his perspective firsthand. Presented by Centro de Investigaciones Regionales de Mesoamérica (CIRMA) in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, the exhibition marks 90 years of Japan–Guatemala relations through powerful images of memory, identity, and connection.

Free and open to the public.

The Center for Regional Research of Mesoamerica (CIRMA) is a nonprofit Guatemalan foundation with educational, scientific, academic, and cultural purposes, unrelated to any political or religious activity. Since its founding in 1978, its efforts have focused on rescuing, organizing, preserving, safeguarding, and disseminating the visual and documentary heritage of the Mesoamerican region, with an emphasis on Guatemala.
