El canto de la fábrica [The Song of the Factory]

El canto de la fábrica [The Song of the Factory] is a new project by Tania Candiani developed through an immersion in the everyday life of the textile factory from which La Nueva Fábrica emerged: its machines, rhythms, sounds, and, above all, the people who keep it running.

The exhibition approaches the factory as a living organism, a space in which bodies and machines listen and respond to one another, together forming a choreography of work. Through this relationship, the works trace the gestures, materials, forms of knowledge, and memories embedded in textile production and transmitted across generations.

Tania Candiani (1974) lives and works in Mexico City. One of the central interests of her work is the expanded idea of translation, explored experimentally through the use of visual, sonic, textual, and symbolic languages. A fundamental part of her practice is connected to feminist politics and practices, understood as a communal, affective, and ritual experience.
