Doña Paula learned to weave at age four from her grandmother in her ancestral town of San Antonio Aguas Calientes. For over three decades, Doña Paula lived on the site of the adjacent textile mill, collaborating with La Nueva Fábrica Co-founder Mitchell Denburg on unique weavings. Doña Paula cultivated her art by honoring the ancient designs of her village, as much as by creating contemporary works in non-traditional colors and layouts. She lived to be 103 years old, and we take inspiration from her incredible work and long life.
