Resident 2026
Sergio Rojas
Sergio Rojas Chaves is a Costa Rican artist who explores the desire for proximity to tropical nature: its commodification, consumption, and the ways in which it is loved, absorbed, possessed, and perpetuated across different contexts. His projects, which encompass sculpture, installation, video, photography, and performance, focus on the relationships between humans, plants, and animals, challenging anthropocentrism through affection and ornamentation. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions, most recently at Istituto Svizzero Roma, Stadtgalerie Bern, the 12th Salón ACME in Mexico City, Budapest Galéria, Macalline Art Center Beijing, Kunsthaus Baselland, MADC San José, among others.
