    Marco Antonio Herrera Fernández

(Lima, Peru, 1995) works between Lima and Iquitos. He holds a master’s degree in Social Sciences from Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya and a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the National School of Fine Arts of Peru.

His work challenges the discourses of power constructed around Indigenous peoples. Through affection, tropicality, and community, he proposes new ways of engaging with Indigenous belief systems and explores possibilities for self-governance rooted in the concept of buen vivir (good living).

He has received an Honorable Mention in the Curatorial Competition for the Peruvian Pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale (2025), First Prize at the ICPNA Contemporary Art Competition (2024), the Economic Incentives for Culture grant (2023), and First Prize at the 24th National Visual Arts Competition, Pasaporte para un Artista (2021).

His work has been presented at Balsa Bufeo, Arte+Amazonía (2025), the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle de Neuchâtel (2024–2025), the Museo de Grabado ICPNA (2025), Galería Younique (2025), Museo de Antioquia (2025), Radio Tsonami (2024), and Museo Barda del Desierto (2022–present), among other venues.
