Join us on Saturday, March 22 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., for the opening of NUNCA MÁS, an institutional solo exhibition of Ester Miza’s work, to be presented in LNF’s project space, íNTIMO.

The exhibition features a series of artworks developed by the artist in 2008, never before exhibited in its entirety. These pieces originate from the work Ester Miza carried out at the time with CONAVIGUA (National Coordinator of Widows of Guatemala), FAFG (Forensic Anthropology Foundation of Guatemala), and Coordinadora Juvenil de Comalapa over an extended period, collecting testimonies from Maya individuals about the human rights violations and crimes committed during the genocide against Maya communities, with a particular focus on the 1980s. Out of fear of repercussions, the artist kept these works hidden for years; now, for the first time, they are presented as a complete body of work.

Alongside the artist’s paintings, a new documentary on this series of artworks and Ester Miza’s artistic practice, commissioned and produced by La Nueva Fábrica, will also be exhibited. Developed over the course of more than a year and directed by Renato Borrayo Serrano, this documentary represents LNF’s effort to establish tangible and accessible methods of documenting contemporary Guatemalan artistic practices, with the goal of contributing to local and international archives, research, and circulation.
