Join us for this workshop led by Chantal Figueroa, sociology professor at Colorado College and co-curator of our current exhibition para curarnos el susto (To Heal Our Fright). We will explore different forms of self-care, beginning with the preparation of conchas (Mexican sweet bread). While the dough rests, we’ll take a tour of the exhibition and reflect on what mental health and healing mean to us. We’ll close the workshop by baking the conchas and sharing them over coffee, while reflecting on what we’ve learned.

Artist Kiara Aileen Machado will also join us to offer a guided mediation on her artwork included in para curarnos el susto. Her participation will open a space for dialogue around the themes in her work—healing, identity, and memory—and how they relate to both personal and collective processes.
