La Nueva Fábrica is pleased to announce Combustión, the latest exhibition by Jorge de León, to be showcased in our project space, Íntimo.

The exhibition, juxtaposing newly developed and existing artworks, arises from a reflection on the historical, political, and symbolic significance of La Antigua—a city profoundly marked by its colonial past, now undergoing a transformation into a picturesque tourist destination. Through the elemental force of fire, both as a catalyst for destruction and a symbol of the sacred, Jorge de León offers a poetic yet piercing critique of Guatemala’s intricate history, viewed through the troubled identity of its former capital. The visual narrative, which evokes the intensity of religious experience, underscores how the dualities that define La Antigua are reflective of the complexities inherent in individual existence.
