    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I download the residency documents?

    Where will I be staying?

Housing is provided free of cost to our residents, so long as you choose to stay at our facilities. We provide residents with a small two-bedroom house on the premises of LNF. The house is fully stocked with linens, towels, cookware, etc. There is a kitchen where you can prepare your meals, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room.

When will my residency take place?

Residencies for the 2025-2026 cycle are scheduled between September 2025 and June 2026. Exact residency dates and lengths are determined after the selection process, in coordination with future residents and the team at LNF.

Does my residency include an exhibition at LNF?

Residencies at LNF do not include an exhibition in the galleries as the residency and exhibition programs are independent. However, residents are encouraged to immerse themselves in LNF’s programming and engage with our diverse publics. While not required, offering an event for our community during the residency period is strongly encouraged. This can take the form of a studio visit, workshop, lecture/conversation, etc. The LNF team supports residents in the planning, logistics, and promotion of the event.

Where can I find art materials?

Guatemala has a strong artisanal culture, with a good selection of raw materials. However, please be prepared to bring down highly specialized tools and materials, such as small etching or woodworking tools, certain archival photo paper and chemicals, etc. We are happy to go over your specific material list before arrival. For basics, we provide residents with a resource guide that includes a list of art supply vendors. If you need help procuring something that is not listed in the resource guide, you can contact us via email/phone during office hours for help.

    Final outcome and open studios

There are no expectations to produce a final artwork during the residency period. However, we encourage residents to present a final event for our communities.

    Visiting art exhibitions, museums, etc.

During your residency we encourage you to get to know the local art community and culture. To facilitate this, we offer a series of visits to exhibitions, studios, etc. We will also keep you posted on art and cultural events as they happen, giving you plenty of opportunities to explore.

Please contact residencia@lanuevafabrica.org for any further questions.
