Resident 2026
Trinidad Metz Brea
Her practice moves fluidly between drawing and sculpture, developing hybrid processes and surfaces that explore the material and conceptual relationships between artistic traditions, craftsmanship, and new technologies. Drawing on mythology and its mutations, Latin American folklore, and science fiction, her work addresses monstrosity, ecological collapse, and mutant forms of survival.
During her residency at La Nueva Fábrica, she aims to delve into the intersections between Mayan mythology, colonial Christian imagery, and local legends specific to the region, while learning traditional woodcarving, painting, and estofado (polychrome gilding) techniques in the workshop of a master artisan from Antigua Guatemala.
