PROGRAM — CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
Ceramics Workshop: Ancestral Food — Creating Clay Maracas
Ornella & Gonzalo, from Compañía Hornera
In this workshop, we will explore the relationship between clay, food, and ancestral knowledge from our territories. Through images and stories about plants, fruits, and vegetables native to present-day Mesoamerica, each participant will create a clay rattle inspired by these forms.
Working with local clay and using hand-building techniques, we will create our own phytomorphic maracas, instruments inspired by the forms of foods and plant life from our surroundings.
The workshop invites us to approach ceramics through accessible tools and processes, highlighting the knowledge and technologies connected to our territories.
The pieces will be fired afterward and can be collected on a date to be agreed upon with participants.
